I love books. The only thing better than a book is a whole lot of books brought together, preferably in a beautiful building. Oxford might be the ultimate biblioparadise, with 103+ libraries and counting (see map). They’re everywhere in this city, gleaming out from narrow alleys, shining at night like academic lighthouses, tall windows, bright wood, warm thumbed spines. I wanted to see all the libraries of Oxford, but I’m not going to be able to manage it in the short time I have. Here, at least, are some of them, libraries of all sorts, each with its own dignity, utility, and grace.
